Job summary

A recruitment consultancy is seeking an Interim Quality Manager for a leading food manufacturing business in Aberdeenshire. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards while leading the QC team and managing audits. The ideal candidate has proven experience in food manufacturing quality management, deep knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP, and effective leadership skills. Immediate availability for a day rate contract is required.

  • Deliver staff training on the Quality Assurance Manual.
  • Lead customer and third-party technical audits.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints and non-conformances.
  • Plan and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage quality staffing requirements.
  • Support HACCP implementation and maintenance.

Job description

Interim Quality Manager – Food Manufacturing

Location: Aberdeenshire

Day Rate Contract

Alexander Steele is partnering with a leading food manufacturing business in Aberdeenshire to appoint an Interim Quality Manager on a day rate contract.

This role is key to ensuring the highest standards of food safety, compliance, and product quality across the site. The successful candidate will lead the Quality & Compliance function while supporting upcoming audits and maintaining strong customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the QC team to ensure high standards of operation, adherence to standards, and customer quality requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with BRCGS and customer standards, maintaining site accreditation.
  • Oversee quality assessment at intake, storage, and production to ensure specifications are met and traceability is maintained.
  • Deliver staff training on the Quality Assurance Manual and online systems from Intake to Dispatch.
  • Lead customer and third-party technical audits, including handling sample requests and external communications.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints and non-conformances with full root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Plan and implement continuous improvement initiatives in quality processes.
  • Manage quality staffing requirements to ensure effective team performance.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of HACCP.
