Job description

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for an Interim Production Operator on a 12-month fixed-term contract to join our team in Lutterworth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Adhere to all safety precautions and PPE (personal protection equipment) requirements while completing the assigned duties in a safe manner.
  2. Responsible for ensuring the lines are set-up and running to the production schedule in accordance to the work orders. Understand line and pump configuration and be able to clean and inspect lines as well as perform line change-overs as needed.
  3. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and ensure that items that fail checks are addressed.
  4. Stage and unload railcars and tank trucks.
  5. Take bulk samples from both railcars and tank trucks and deliver to QC lab.
  6. Take particle count samples and run particle count tests.
  7. Prepare customer trucks to include sealing, sampling, and associated paperwork. Inspect and close MPO's.
  8. Keep accurate production records.
  9. Collaborates with Supervisors and Maintenance Personnel, to determine equipment set-up and operations.
  10. Monitor and assist assigned packaging operators.
  11. Works with the Quality Assurance Department to understand, recognize and rectify quality issues. Has the authority and responsibility to stop the line and notify QA of a contamination event.
  12. Ability to perform the duties of both a packaging operator and material handler.
  13. Comply with all cGMP requirements.
  14. Manage hazardous and universal waste according to local, state and federal regulations.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience:
1 - 3 years of related experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably a chemical plant.

Skills/Competencies:
  1. Demonstrated mechanical ability.
  2. Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem analysis skills.
  3. Strong interpersonal communication skills including the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  4. Strong basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
  5. Critical decision-making skills, creativity, multi-tasking ability.
  6. RCRA Training.
