Job summary

Trial Balance is seeking an interim Management Accountant to join a friendly finance team in a hybrid pattern at the company headquarters in Truro. The role is full time on a 3-month initial contract, with potential to convert to permanent.

Responsibilities

• Produce high quality management accounts with commentary.
• Manage day-to-day operational finance function.
• Nominal ledger review and month end close.
• Handle accruals and prepayments.
• Prepare monthly reporting packs and financial analysis.
• Collaborate with FC/CFO to develop systems and processes.
• Support cost control and cash flow forecasting.
• Assist in year end and audit processes.

Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been re-engaged by a past client, a recognised local employer and highly successful engineering focussed trading on a national scale. The company seeks to recruit an interim Management Accountant to join their friendly and experienced finance team. This is a full time, contract position with an initial anticipated duration of 3 months and the company promtes a hybrid working pattern - 2/3 days per week at the company headquarters in Truro. ***Please note that there is potential for this role to convert to a permanent contract***

Reporting to and working closely with the company’s Financial Controller, the successful candidate will enjoy a varied role whilst also supervising a small team of transactional focussed finance. This will be a broader role than typical, almost blurring the lines of Finance Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Production of high quality management accounts with associated commentary
• Assume a key role in managing the day-to-day operational finance function of the business
• Nominal ledger review
• Accrual and prepayments
• Produce monthly reporting packs and financial analysis
• Working collaboratively with the FC and CFO, assume a key role in developing system and process improvements
• Cost control
• Month end journal entries and reconciliations
• Preparation cash flow forecasts
• Assist in year end and audit processes

For this role we seek an experienced candidate, either part/fully professionally qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), or qualified through vocational experience. Previous experience gained within a manufacturing and/or stock holding business, or with exposure to physical inventory’s would be advantageous though not essential. The company is highly technology focussed so a sound understanding of digital accounting platforms and strong MS Excel skills will be essential. This is a visible role within the business, working as part of a small team and regularly liaising with colleagues outside of finance so excellent leadership and relationship building skills will be essential.
