Sharp Consultancy is seeking an experienced Management Accountant for a maternity-cover contract in Barnsley, commencing in November. The role centers on owning the month-end process and delivering meaningful management information within the finance team.

Candidates may be PQ, QBE, or fully qualified, provided they have hands-on experience producing management accounts and supporting stakeholders with robust financial insights.

Management Accountant – Maternity Cover

Barnsley | c.£45,000 | 15-Month Contract | November Start

We’re working with a well-established client in Barnsley who is looking to appoint an experienced Management Accountant on a 15-month maternity cover contract, starting in November.

This is a great opportunity for a confident management accountant who is comfortable taking ownership of the month-end process and producing accurate, meaningful management information for the business.

You do not need to be fully qualified for this role. We’re happy to consider candidates who are part-qualified (PQ), qualified by experience (QBE), or fully qualified, provided you have solid hands‑on experience producing management accounts.

Working as part of the finance team, you’ll be responsible for a broad range of management accounting duties, including:

• Producing accurate monthly management accounts

• Preparing and posting month-end journals and completing month-end processes

• Balance sheet reconciliations and control account reviews

• Variance analysis against budgets and forecasts

• Supporting the budgeting and forecasting process

• Providing financial analysis and management information to key stakeholders

• Monitoring costs and investigating significant variances

• Assisting with cash flow and financial reporting

• Supporting year-end processes and the external audit

• Maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records

• Identifying opportunities to improve financial controls and processes

• Providing general support to the wider finance team as required
