Job summary

Axon Moore are partnering with a well-established business just outside Chester to recruit a Management Accountant on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will own key month-end activities, manage accruals and prepayments, and assist with management accounts, while supporting the wider team in a collaborative environment. Hybrid working arrangement available.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Management Accountant or Assistant Management Accountant role.
• Hands-on month-end accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of accruals, prepayments, journals and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journals.
• Manage accruals and prepayments.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations.
• Own month-end processes.
• Assist with management accounts preparation.
• Maintain accuracy of financial records.
• Support purchase and sales ledgers when required.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
• Collaborate with the finance team to meet deadlines.
• Provide ad hoc finance support.

Management Accountant (12-Month FTC - Maternity Cover)

Location: Just outside Chester

Salary: Up to c. 40,000

Hybrid Working: 2 days office / 3 days home

Start Date: Mid to late November

Axon Moore are delighted to be partnering with a fantastic business based just outside Chester to recruit a Management Accountant on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

The role offers broad exposure across the month-end process and management accounts function, making it ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on and working as part of a collaborative team environment.

The Role Reporting into their Head of Finance, you will take ownership of key month-end activities while supporting the wider finance function as needed.

• Preparing and posting journals
• Managing accruals and prepayments
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations
• Taking ownership of month-end processes
• Assisting with management accounts preparation
• Maintaining accuracy and integrity of financial records
• Supporting purchase and sales ledger activities when required
• Investigating and resolving financial discrepancies
• Working closely with the wider finance team to ensure reporting deadlines are met
• Providing ad hoc finance support as required

About You To be considered, you will need:

• Previous experience in a Management Accountant or Assistant Management Accountant role
• Hands-on experience with month-end accounting processes
• Strong knowledge of accruals, prepayments, journals and balance sheet reconciliations
• Good Excel skills and attention to detail
• A proactive and team-oriented approach
• The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a supportive team environment
