Job summary

The University of Kent invites applications for Interim Head of Security. You will provide strategic and operational leadership on security matters across the campus, including incident response, and oversee security staff to deliver a safe, customer‑friendly service for staff, students and visitors.

You should have substantial experience managing risk and security in a large organisation, familiarity with SIA Regulations and BS7858, and a strong track record in higher education security

Qualifications

• A high level of education evidenced by a first degree, accreditation or senior rank.
• Knowledge of SIA Regulations and BS7858 standards.
• Substantial experience managing risk and operational security services.
• Understanding of security issues in the higher education sector.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership on all security matters, including serious incidents.
• Lead deployment and management of security staff to deliver a customer‑friendly service.
• Liaise with stakeholders to maintain a safe campus for staff, students and visitors.
• Advise on security, parking enforcement and transport issues.
• Develop and implement University Security Strategy and related policies and guidelines.
