Job description

Job Title: Interim Financial Controller/ Project Accountant

Location: Bristol/Bath/London (2-3 times a week presence required in both offices)

Duration: 6 months (Starting May 2025)

Company: Private Equity-Backed Manufacturing Business

Day Rate: £300-£350 per day (Outside IR35 possible)

About the Role:

The Hays Senior Finance team is seeking an experienced Interim Financial Controller/ Project Accountant for a dynamic private equity-backed manufacturing business. This 6-month interim role reports directly to the CEO and involves supporting key financial activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and organise the FY 2026 budget.
  • Update and address management accounts from March/April.
  • Extract and present financial data for shareholders and the board.
  • Set up and manage a KPI dashboard to measure outputs.
  • Collaborate with the outsourced bookkeeper.
  • Attend occasional board meetings in London with the CEO.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Proven experience in a similar SME role (30-35 employees, £8 million turnover).
  • Proficient in Sage 200.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Flexible, with the ability to work remotely and be present in London and Bristol offices.
