Finance People in London requires an experienced Financial Controller for a 3–4 month fixed-term contract with hybrid working and just one day in the office. You will own the month-end close, produce management accounts, reconcile the balance sheet and drive improvements.

You will partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis, while tightening controls and scaling finance processes for a growing PE-backed tech business.

Formación

• ACA/ACCA membership is required and month-end ownership is essential.
• Ability to own the monthly close, from start to finish, with tight deadlines.
• Experience improving finance processes and controls, not just maintaining them.
• Strong technical accounting skills and detail orientation.

Responsabilidades

• Own the entire month-end process from start to finish.
• Produce monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Perform variance analysis and financial reporting improvements.
• Manage AP, AR, payroll, cash flow and revenue recognition.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis with the CFO.
• Improve reporting quality, efficiency and consistency across finance.
• Support VAT, audit, tax and statutory reporting requirements.
• Develop finance systems and tools as the business grows.

Fast-Growing, PE-Backed Tech Business

We're working with a fast-growing, private equity-backed technology business looking for an experienced, hands‑on Financial Controller to join on an initial 3–4 month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of becoming permanent.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, taking ownership and making things better.

The business needs someone who can run the finance function confidently from day one, but also take a fresh look at existing processes, tighten controls and introduce improvements that will make a lasting difference.

You'll work closely with the CFO, combining day‑to‑day financial control with some commercial finance and FP&A responsibilities.

What you'll be doing

• Owning the entire month-end process, start to finish, independently and to tight deadlines.
• Producing accurate monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Reviewing existing finance processes and controls, identifying weaknesses and implementing practical improvements.
• Managing day-to-day finance operations, including AP, AR, payroll, cash management and revenue recognition.
• Supporting the CFO with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Improving the quality, efficiency and consistency of financial reporting.
• Supporting VAT, audit, tax and statutory reporting requirements.
• Helping develop finance systems, reporting tools and procedures as the business continues to grow.

Who we're looking for

• A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) with solid Financial Controller experience.
• Proven experience independently managing month-end from beginning to end is absolutely essential.
• Someone who has improved finance processes and controls, rather than simply maintained what's already there.
• Strong technical accounting skills, with the ability to get into the detail.
• Comfortable with management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Experience with Xero and ideally multi‑entity accounting.
• Previous experience in a growing technology, SaaS or PE‑backed business would be a real advantage.
• A proactive, self‑sufficient individual who can hit the ground running with minimal supervision.
