Job summary

Michael Page International Recruitment Limited is seeking an Interim Group Financial Controller to oversee global financial operations, reporting and governance during a significant ERP implementation. You will consolidate accounts, manage month-end processes and support strategic decisions.

The candidate will hold ACA/ACCA or equivalent, bring strong group reporting experience, and preferably have manufacturing sector exposure.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA or equivalent.
• Proven ability to manage financial operations and group reporting.
• Experience in manufacturing sector preferred; other sectors considered.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Group Finance function with timely, accurate reporting.
• Manage month-, quarter-, and year-end closes.
• Produce consolidated management accounts and board packs.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting and cash flow.
• Maintain robust controls, governance and compliance.
• Lead external audits and statutory reporting.
• Develop and mentor finance teams across disciplines.
• Partner with stakeholders to drive business performance.
• Provide insights on margins, costs and profitability.
• Review stock controls and working capital management.
• Drive process improvements across finance systems and reporting.
• Support strategic projects and investment decisions.

Client Details

This role is with a large company in commuting distance of Cardiff.

Description

The Group Financial Controller plays a pivotal role in the success of the business.

The role will focus on overseeing financial operations and ensuring accurate reporting. You'll play a key part in keeping the company's finances organised and supporting strategic decision-making.

The business are also in the middle of a large ERP installation, of which the Group FC will be responsible for getting over the line and ensuring that all systems and controls are embedded in the system.

The role will include;

• Lead the Group Finance function, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes.
• Produce consolidated management accounts and board reporting packs.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
• Ensure robust financial controls, governance and compliance procedures are maintained.
• Manage external audit processes and statutory reporting requirements.
• Lead and develop a team of finance professionals across multiple disciplines.
• Partner with operational and commercial stakeholders to drive business performance.
• Provide insight into manufacturing performance, margins, costs and profitability.
• Review stock controls, inventory valuation and working capital management.
• Drive continuous improvement across finance systems, reporting and processes.
• Support strategic business projects, investment decisions and operational initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all tax, VAT and regulatory requirements.
• Deliver financial analysis and performance reporting to senior leadership.
• Act as a trusted advisor to the Finance Director/CFO and wider executive team.

Profile

A successful Interim Group Financial Controller should have:

• A professional accounting qualification (e., ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience in group reporting.
• Proven ability to manage financial operations in a complex organisation.
• Experience in the Manufacturing sector ideally but others will be onsidered.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with stakeholders at various levels.
• It would be advantageous if you have significant systems/ERP install experience

Job Offer

• Daily rate between £450 and £550 per day via an umbrella company.
• Hybrid working arrangement. 2-3 days a week in the office
• initial 6 month role with a view to extend or potential to convert to a Perm role
