Job summary

Aldenham Estate in Elstree, Hertfordshire, seeks a hands-on Financial Accountant to own operational accounting across its multi-entity family-owned business for the next 2‑3 months. You’ll manage the monthly close, reconciliations, VAT, payroll administration, banking controls and cash flow, reporting to the Head of Finance.

Start immediately or on short notice; predominantly onsite with some flex. The role offers practical ownership across property, aerodrome, farming and sustainable land

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, part-qualified or QBE.
• Experience in financial accounting, month-end and reconciliations.
• Knowledge of VAT, payroll administration and multi-entity finance.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close across multiple entities with journals, accruals and reporting.
• Prepare VAT returns, year-end schedules and manage cash flow forecasting.
• Coordinate payroll with the outsourced provider and ensure strong banking controls.
• Support finance system changes and data preparation for system integration.
• Document procedures to improve control and resilience.
