Hands-On Financial Accountant for Multi-Entity Estate

Job summary

Aldenham Estate in Elstree, Hertfordshire, is seeking a technically strong Financial Accountant to own the accounting cycle, close the books, manage reconciliations and enforce robust controls. This on-site role offers scope to improve systems, processes and reporting while supporting a multi-entity estate portfolio.

You will be responsible for VAT, payroll, banking controls and finance system integration, with direct reporting to the Head of Finance.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification with strong technical accounting capability.
• Strong financial accounting, month-end and balance sheet reconciliation experience.
• Experience preparing management accounts and supporting year-end statutory accounts.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, banking processes, VAT and payroll administration.
• Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems.
• High attention to detail with a genuine commitment to accuracy and control.
• Ability to independently manage priorities and deadlines within a hands-on finance environment.
• Clear communication skills and confidence working with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Experience within a multi-entity accounting environment would be particularly valuable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close across all entities, including journals, accruals and reconciliations.
• Prepare VAT returns, year-end schedules and audit files.
• Manage cash flow forecasts, working capital and banking controls.
• Oversee payroll administration and interaction with outsourced providers.
• Support finance system replacement and integration with Re-Leased.
• Document key procedures and drive improvements for efficiency and control.
• Ensure accounts are accurate, complete and audit-ready across entities.
