Job summary

Vitae Financial Recruitment Limited is recruiting an interim Financial Controller for a 3–6 month contract in Hemel Hempstead. The role is hybrid with 3 days in the office and a daily rate of £400–£500 inside IR35.

You will lead a small finance team, own year-end and audit processes, and oversee monthly management accounts and robust financial controls. Immediate start available for an established finance professional.

Qualifications

• Strong financial accounting and control experience.
• Proven experience managing year-end and audit processes.
• Strong management accounts experience.
• Experience managing and developing a finance team.
• Excellent balance sheet and reconciliation skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in a busy, hands-on finance environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a finance team of circa five.
• Take ownership of the year-end close and statutory reporting process.
• Lead the year-end audit, acting as a key point of contact for external auditors.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts.
• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the balance sheet and supporting reconciliations.
• Oversee financial controls and ensure robust processes.
• Review and improve existing finance processes and controls.
• Provide leadership and direction to the wider finance team.
• Work with senior stakeholders across the business.
• Ensure key financial deadlines and reporting requirements are met.
