Vitae Financial Recruitment Limited is recruiting an interim Financial Controller for a 3–6 month contract in Hemel Hempstead. The role is hybrid with 3 days in the office and a daily rate of £400–£500 inside IR35.

You will lead a small finance team, own year-end and audit processes, and oversee monthly management accounts and robust financial controls. Immediate start available for an established finance professional.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a finance team of circa five.

• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the balance sheet and supporting reconciliations.
• Oversee financial controls and ensure robust processes.
• Review and improve existing finance processes and controls.
• Provide leadership and direction to the wider finance team.
• Work with senior stakeholders across the business.
• Ensure key financial deadlines and reporting requirements are met.

Interim Financial Controller - 3-6 Month Contract
Hemel Hempstead Hybrid - 3 days office-based £400-£500 per day (Inside IR35)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Financial Controller to join a well-established organisation on an interim basis.
This is an immediate requirement, initially for circa 3-6 months, with the potential for the role to develop into a longer-term opportunity.
Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will have responsibility for managing a finance team of circa five people, whilst taking ownership of a broad financial control remit covering year-end, audit, management accounts and day-to-day financial reporting.

The Role

• Managing, supporting and developing a finance team of circa five
• Taking ownership of the year-end close and statutory reporting process
• Leading the year-end audit, acting as a key point of contact for external auditors
• Preparation and review of monthly management accounts
• Ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the balance sheet and supporting reconciliations
• Overseeing financial controls and ensuring robust financial processes are maintained
• Reviewing and improving existing finance processes and controls
• Providing leadership, direction and support to the wider finance team
• Working closely with senior stakeholders across the business
• Ensuring key financial deadlines and reporting requirements are consistently met

About You

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller who can quickly step into an established finance function, lead the team and make an immediate impact.

• Strong financial accounting and financial control experience
• Proven experience managing year-end and audit processes
• Strong management accounts experience
• Previous experience managing and developing a finance team
• Excellent balance sheet and reconciliation skills
• The ability to work independently and take ownership
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience of working within a busy, hands-on finance environment
• A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) is preferred
