Job summary

Harmonic Group Ltd is seeking an Interim Financial Controller to stabilise finance for a hardware/AI deep-tech venture. You’ll fix the ledger, oversee the December year-end and build robust foundations with coaching for a junior accounts assistant.

You’ll work hands-on in a hybrid setup (1–2 days in Cambridge) with the Chief of Staff and COO. The role focuses on practical problem-solving and strong financial controls to support growth.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with solid regulatory and audit experience.
• Experience with hardware/manufacturing inventory, cost of sales and fixed assets.
• Hands-on approach, comfortable working from incomplete records.
• Ability to explain finance to non-finance founders and mentor juniors.

Responsibilities

• Review and fix nominal coding across the ledger to remove catch-all codes.
• Put inventory, COGS and fixed asset accounting on a solid footing.
• Lead the December year-end and audit preparation with a four-month turnaround.
• Build rolling cash flow forecast linked to committed purchase orders.
• Produce quarterly management accounts for the founder and board in plain English.
• Tighten P2P controls in the new PO system; manage supplier terms and status.
• Support R&D tax credits, lease accounting, and invoicing setup for contracts.
• Collaborate with external accountants and challenge outputs when needed.
