Job summary

Morgan Law is seeking an experienced finance interim to join the council's Accounting & Technical team. You will manage the Collection Fund and business rates accounting, lead statutory returns and financial reporting, and provide specialist technical advice to support key decisions.

This 12-month role is hybrid with some office presence and a day rate of £500 a day, focusing on leading the Collection Fund function, forecasting, and coordinating with Finance, Revenues & Benefits, and external

Qualifications

• Experience in Collection Fund accounting within a local authority environment.
• Ability to lead business rates retention and council tax accounting.
• Experience preparing NNDR1, NNDR3 and other statutory returns.
• Forecasting Collection Fund, tax base calculations and surplus/deficit processes.
• Experience supporting external audit and statutory reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Council's Collection Fund accounting function.
• Prepare statutory returns and disclosures.
• Produce forecasts and financial analysis to support medium-term financial planning.
• Provide specialist advice on Collection Fund legislation and accounting requirements.
• Lead responses to Collection Fund audit queries.
• Coordinate work across Finance, Revenues & Benefits, preceptors and external stakeholders.
