Job summary

Morgan Law Partners Llp is supporting a Local Government client in recruiting an experienced finance interim to lead the Collection Fund and business rates accounting. The role covers council tax accounting, surplus/deficit calculations, and year-end reporting, with emphasis on statutory compliance and expert advice.

The role is hybrid with some office presence, and offers a day rate of £500 for a 12-month assignment, delivering specialist accounting services to support medium-term financial

Qualifications

• Experience with Collection Fund accounting in local authorities.
• Experience with business rates retention and council tax accounting.
• Experience preparing NNDR1, NNDR3 and other statutory returns.
• Forecasting for Collection Fund, tax base calculations and surplus/deficit processes.
• Support for external audit and statutory reporting requirements.
• Provide technical accounting advice to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Council’s Collection Fund accounting function.
• Prepare statutory returns and disclosures.
• Produce forecasts and financial analysis to support medium-term financial planning.
• Provide specialist advice on Collection Fund legislation and accounting requirements.
• Lead responses to Collection Fund audit queries.
• Coordinate work across Finance, Revenues & Benefits and external stakeholders.
