Equans is looking for an Interim Category HUB Leader – Indirect & Professional Services to join the team on a 12-month Fixed term contract. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.
Our Category HUB Leaders play a pivotal role in maximising the value of Procurement at Equans UK&I by executing a structured, collaborative approach to category projects that optimises the procurement of similar products and services. This specific role within the UK BU Central Procurement Team will focus on the Indirect & Professional Services HUB, encompassing a wide range of categories including:
- HR Services: Recruitment, Training, Travel, Meetings & Events, and related services.
- Fleet Management: Leasing, Rental, Fuel, Telematics, and associated vehicle services.
- General Goods & Services: Office supplies and services, Postal and distribution services, and other support functions.
- IT & Telecoms: Technology solutions and telecommunication services.
- Professional & Financial Services: Consultancy, Insurance, Banking Services, and related professional services
By strategically managing these sub-categories, the Category HUB Leader and his team drive efficiencies, enhance collaboration, and secure value-driven outcomes for the business.
This leadership role within the Procurement Function is essential in delivering a unified, centralised support service across a diverse, autonomous, and nationally dispersed organisation.
The postholder leads a team of 7 procurement professionals (Category Managers, Analysts) and acts as a key strategic interface with Divisional Directors, the UKBU CFO, CHRO, Legal, and HR teams.
This role is crucial in driving procurement performance, embedding category management best practices, and aligning strategic sourcing with business needs and sustainability objectives. The Category HUB Leader ensures alignment with group procurement strategy while fostering continuous improvement, innovation, and stakeholder engagement.
The appointed category HUB Leader will sit within the Procurement Senior Leadership Team (SLT) alongside the divisional Head of Procurement/Procurement Directors.
What will you deliver?
- Lead the development and implementation of category strategies across all Indirect categories
- Drive structured sourcing initiatives and ensure robust pipeline management for optimal value delivery
- Translate business needs into clear sourcing requirements, aligning category plans with operational objectives
- Oversee delivery of multimillion-pound RFPs, rebids, renewals and framework contracts
- Set and manage performance targets (savings, coverage, rebate, compliance) across the HUB
- Oversee accurate and timely savings reporting, rebate validation, and commercial performance dashboards
- Champion the use of tools like Power BI for real-time category insight and decision support
- Act as Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for all Indirect procurement matters within the UK&I BU
- Engage with Group Procurement and sister entities (e.g., Bouygues E&S) on global and UK projects
- Lead the implementation of a Procurement Centre of Excellence model across UK entities
- Identify and mitigate category risks, ensuring supplier compliance and contract governance
- Oversee rebate recovery, contract lifecycle management, and standardisation of tools and templates
- Co-direct performance acceleration programmes (e.g., Group Procurement Performance Plan – GPPA)
- Introduce category digitalisation, demand management, and strategic supplier partnerships
- Lead initiatives to enhance sustainability, social value, and DE&I within supply chains

Who are we looking for?
- Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field
- Proven leadership of multi-category, multi-site procurement teams
- Track record in delivering large-scale transformation and financial results
- Experience working in a matrix organisation with central and decentralised structures
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of rebate/incentive schemes
- Effective communicator and influencer at Executive level
- Robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Experience in category planning, contract negotiation, and SRM
