Job summary

Morgan McKinley (South West) are recruiting an SME Accountant on an interim basis for an estimated 3–4 months with potential extension. The role involves hands-on finance across transactions, VAT, and month-end activity, reporting to the Finance Manager.

The candidate will also engage in wider projects such as systems improvements and potential future acquisitions, with immediate or short-notice availability encouraged.

Qualifications

• Experience in a hands-on SME finance role.
• Cover day-to-day transactions and assist with management accounts.
• Prepare VAT returns and support month-end and year-end activities.
• Assist with annual audit and ad-hoc finance projects.
• Available on short notice or immediate availability preferred.

Job description

Morgan McKinley are working with a growing, ever-changing business to recruit an SME Accountant to join their finance team on an interim basis for a period of approximately 3 - 4 months with the opportunity to get extended.

This is a hands-on, varied role working closely with the Finance Manager and covering everything from day-to-day transactions through to supporting the preparation of management accounts. Responsibilities will include processing transactions, preparing VAT returns, assisting with month-end and year-end activities, and supporting the annual audit.

As the business continues to evolve, there will also be opportunities to get involved in wider projects, including systems improvements, implementation, and future acquisitions.

We're looking for someone who has worked in a similar SME finance role, enjoys variety and is happy to get involved across all areas of finance. Candidates who are immediately available or on a short notice period are particularly encouraged to apply.
