Job summary

Morgan McKinley is seeking an interim SME Accountant to join the finance team for approximately 3–4 months with a potential extension. The role covers day-to-day transactions and supports the preparation of management accounts, VAT returns, and month-end/year-end activities.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Manager, get involved in wider projects such as systems improvements and acquisitions, and be prepared to cover a broad range of finance duties during the interim

Qualifications

• Experience in SME finance roles.
• Ability to manage day-to-day transactions and make improvements.

Responsibilities

• Process day-to-day transactions and ensure accurate posting.
• Prepare VAT returns and assist with month-end and year-end close.
• Support annual audit activities and liaise with auditors.
• Contribute to systems improvement, implementation projects, and future acquisitions.

Morgan McKinley are working with a growing, ever-changing business to recruit an SME Accountant to join their finance team on an interim basis for a period of approximately 3 - 4 months with the opportunity to get extended.

This is a hands-on, varied role working closely with the Finance Manager and covering everything from day-to-day transactions through to supporting the preparation of management accounts. Responsibilities will include processing transactions, preparing VAT returns, assisting with month-end and year-end activities, and supporting the annual audit.

As the business continues to evolve, there will also be opportunities to get involved in wider projects, including systems improvements, implementation, and future acquisitions.

We're looking for someone who has worked in a similar SME finance role, enjoys variety and is happy to get involved across all areas of finance. Candidates who are immediately available or on a short notice period are particularly encouraged to apply.
