Job summary

Sanderson Government & Defence in London is seeking an experienced Interaction Designer to shape accessible, user-centered digital services within a major public sector programme.

You will work in a multidisciplinary agile team, delivering end-to-end user journeys, wireframes and prototypes that meet GDS standards and service assessments. BPSS clearance is required or in scope.

This 12-month hybrid role offers a daily rate of £477 and Inside IR35, with NHS or healthcare experience desirable.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Interaction Designer within digital transformation programmes.
• Strong GDS experience, including designing services to meet GDS standards.
• Expertise in interaction design, user journeys, task flows and information architecture.
• Experience creating wireframes, prototypes and design iterations using industry-standard tools.
• Strong understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
• Experience in agile, multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to communicate design decisions to stakeholders and delivery teams.
• BPSS clearance eligible (or currently held).
• Desirable: NHS/Healthcare sector experience.
• Desirable: service design practices and user research.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end user journeys and service interactions across digital products and services.
• Create wireframes, prototypes and design artefacts to communicate solutions effectively.
• Collaborate with User Researchers, Content Designers, Service Designers, Product Managers and Developers.
• Use user research, data and evidence to inform design decisions.
• Ensure designs meet accessibility requirements and GDS standards.
• Contribute to service assessments and continuous service improvement.
• Advocate for user-centred design principles across the programme.

We're supporting a major public sector digital programme and are looking for an experienced Interaction Designer to help design intuitive, accessible and user-centred digital services.

Working within a multidisciplinary agile team, you'll be responsible for designing effective user journeys, service interactions and digital experiences that meet both user needs and organisational objectives. This role requires strong experience working within GDS environments, delivering services that meet Government Digital Service standards and assessment requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as an Interaction Designer within digital transformation programmes
• Strong GDS experience, including designing services in line with GDS standards and service assessment expectations
• Expertise in interaction design, user journeys, task flows and information architecture
• Experience creating wireframes, prototypes and design iterations using industry-standard tools
• Strong understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles
• Experience working within agile, multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to communicate design decisions effectively to stakeholders and delivery teams
• BPSS clearance eligible (or currently held)

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Previous experience within the NHS, Health, or wider Healthcare sector
• Experience designing high-volume citizen-facing services
• Familiarity with service design methodologies and user research practices
• Experience contributing to design systems and pattern libraries
