Integration Engineer

Application Deadline: 1 November 2026

Department: Information Technology Services

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Lockington, Derbyshire

Description

Breedon Group plc is a leading vertically integrated construction materials group in Great Britain, Ireland, and the USA. We're dedicated to providing high-quality materials and services for the construction industry, with a commitment to safety, sustainability, and innovation. Joining Breedon means becoming part of a team that values excellence and is committed to making a positive impact.

Job Purpose: The Integration Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and supporting reliable integration services that connect Breedon's business applications, platforms and data services.

The role contributes to Breedon's internal integration capability, reducing reliance on third-party support and enabling secure, efficient communication between enterprise systems.

The Integration Engineer owns the delivery lifecycle for assigned integrations, from requirements and solution design through development, testing, deployment, monitoring, documentation and operational support.

Working with developers, analysts, architects and business stakeholders, the role will translate business needs into robust API-led, event-driven and message-based integration solutions.

The role will apply agreed engineering, security and DevOps standards to deliver scalable, supportable integrations and resolve production issues with increasing independence.

This role is based at Lockington, Derbyshire and there is a requirement to attend the office a minimum of 2 days per week. Applicants should be able to commute reliably to site on a regular basis and are encouraged to consider the travel requirements before applying.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test and maintain scalable integration workflows using Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions and other approved Azure Integration Services.
  • Build and manage secure APIs using Azure API Management to enable reliable integration between internal and external systems.
  • Implement event-driven and message-based integrations using Azure Service Bus and Azure Event Grid to support resilient, decoupled architectures.
  • Contribute to Breedon's internal integration capability, reducing reliance on third-party support and improving cost and process efficiency.
  • Work with business stakeholders, developers, analysts and architects to gather requirements and translate them into robust integration solutions.
  • Apply agreed integration patterns, development standards, security controls and reusable components to improve consistency and maintainability.
  • Take ownership of testing activities to validate data accuracy, functional behaviour, error handling, security and system performance.
  • Use source control, code review, CI/CD and release management practices to deploy integration components safely and consistently.
  • Monitor integration services and respond to alerts as part of daily operations, ensuring failures and performance issues are identified promptly.
  • Investigate and resolve integration incidents through structured troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, escalating risks and dependencies when required.
  • Produce and maintain clear technical and operational documentation covering interfaces, mappings, configurations, testing and support procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by simplifying workflows, reducing manual activity, improving observability and sharing knowledge across the team.
