Job summary

United Utilities in Penrith is seeking an Instrumentation Field Service Engineer to maintain and improve instrumentation assets across our sites, ensuring safety, reliability and compliance at all times.

You’ll work hands-on with pressure, flow and temperature instruments, with structured training and development to deepen instrumentation capability while collaborating with a supportive engineering team.

Qualifications

• Must be a time-served apprentice with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Full UK driving licence is essential due to mobile role.
• Field service experience in electrical maintenance or engineering.
• Strong fault-finding across electrical systems, controls and instrumentation.
• Knowledge of flow, level and measurable instruments, especially in water or similar process industries.
• Solid Health & Safety awareness and safe systems of work.
• Team player with good communication and collaboration with on-site teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality instrumentation maintenance and installation services.
• Diagnose and fix faults to keep instrumentation and systems running reliably.
• Carry out planned maintenance to prevent issues.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and internal policies.
• Manage budgets and maintain financial control.
• Provide accurate asset performance data to feed corporate systems.
• Analyze root causes of recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions.
