United Utilities’ Williamsgate Water Treatment Works in Cumbria is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Field Service Engineer. You’ll perform planned and reactive maintenance on water assets, diagnose faults, and return equipment to service while upholding health, safety, and environmental standards.

The role starts with a mechanical focus and offers on-the-job training to develop multi-skilled capabilities. A full UK driving licence and time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical discipline.
• Experience in mechanical maintenance, engineering or industrial environments.
• Strong fault-finding, planning and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across Water assets.
• Diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and return equipment to service.
• Maintain and improve asset reliability through proactive maintenance.
• Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety legislation and standards.
• Accurately record asset performance, defects and repair data.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
• Manage maintenance activities within agreed budgets where applicable.
• Work independently when required while remaining a team member.
