Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) technician to join our Sewage Treatments Team based out of Chesham.

This is a mobile role, where you will work on various Treatment Works around the Colne North Area.

We seek a candidate who can work safely, efficiently, and effectively with minimal supervision, maintaining standards to meet statutory obligations and ensure asset availability and performance measures are upheld to manufacturers' standards.

An ICA Tech may operate and optimize processes and on-site equipment to ensure water quality compliance, safety, and operational efficiency, including out-of-hours work.

Responsibilities
  • Install, commission, maintain, and repair water production assets, including level instrumentation, flow meters, and turbidity monitors.
  • Work with SCADA systems, PLCs, and process control networks.
  • Liaise with and supervise contractors and suppliers.
  • Investigate asset failures and perform repairs to minimize process interruptions.
  • Provide technical advice and training support for apprentices.
Location and Working Hours

Base Location: Chesham STW - HP5 1TH

Working pattern: 38 hours, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, with standby and overtime opportunities that can increase earnings by approximately £8,000-£10,000 annually.

All PPE, tools, a company van, and a fuel card are provided.

Candidate Requirements
  • Strong understanding of operational assets and control systems.
  • Experience with SCADA systems, relay logic, and PLCs (Rockwell & Allen Bradley).
  • Ability to read circuit diagrams and fault find, with experience with inverter drives.
  • HNC/Level 4 education or 6+ years' experience, including apprenticeship, in Control, Instrumentation, and Automation.
  • Valid driving license is essential.
  • Safety-conscious, self-motivated, disciplined, and a team player.
  • Excellent communication skills and proactive in suggesting improvements.
