This role offers a chance to impact Thames Water's environmental efforts positively by reducing pollution from our sites.

What you’ll be doing as the ICA Technician
  • Perform instrumentation, control, and automation maintenance on water production assets, including planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance. Liaise with contractors and suppliers as needed.
  • Investigate plant failures and implement repairs promptly to prevent supply disruptions. Conduct risk assessments and create method statements for maintenance activities.
  • Provide technical advice, support training for trainees, and contribute to project development and capital projects.

Base Location: Latton, Cirencester or Speen - Newbury, depending on your location.

Working Pattern: 38 hours Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, with standby and overtime opportunities that can increase earnings by approximately £8,000-£10,000.

All PPE, tools, van, and fuel card are provided.

What you should bring to the role
  • A strong practical understanding of operational plant and control systems, including experience with Wonderware (desirable), ClearSCADA, relay logic, and PLCs (Rockwell & Allen Bradley). Ability to read circuit diagrams and fault find is essential. Experience with inverter drives is preferred.
  • Experience working with instrumentation such as flow meters, pressure sensors, ultrasonics, and telemetry.
  • Qualifications: HNC level or City and Guilds Part 2/NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in electrical subjects.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and self-motivate.
  • A valid driving license is essential, as the role involves travel across multiple sites.
What we are looking for in you
  • A self-motivated individual eager to learn and contribute to the team with a can-do attitude.
  • Responsiveness to faults, curiosity, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Teamwork and proactive communication.
  • Willingness to be trained in safety procedures and awareness of health and safety standards.
What’s in it for you?
  • Competitive salary up to £45,000 depending on skills and experience.
