Lead Control & Instrumentation Engineer
Location: Manchester, United Kingdom
Contract Type: 12-Month Contract (Inside IR35)

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the C&I engineering team through all phases of project delivery for major projects under an MSA.
- Develop, manage, and control budgets for central C&I projects, ensuring cost-effective, high-quality outcomes.
- Support both project execution and proposal development, ensuring technical continuity and alignment across phases.
- Work on projects across all stages, including Conceptual Studies, Basic Design, FEED, and Detailed Design.
- Oversee and contribute to the development of Instrumentation Engineering deliverables.
- Ensure alignment with cross-disciplinary project teams and act as the C&I interface with clients and project management.
- Engage in design safety and constructability reviews.
- Manage technical specifications and vendor compliance for instrumentation and control systems.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in Instrumentation Engineering Design across medium to large capital projects from concept to start-up.
- Strong background in UK-based projects and familiarity with UK standards is essential.
- Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
- Chartered Engineer or actively working toward chartered status (IMC or IET membership).
- Competent in C&I leadership within a contracting organisation.
- Proven experience in equipment specification, procurement, and supplier compliance within an EPC environment.
- Proficient in:
- Project execution using design tools and techniques.
- Budget, schedule control, monitoring, and reporting.
- Electrical protection methodologies.
- Specification and requisition of Field Instrumentation, Analysers, DCS, PLC, and SIS systems.
- Specification and design of Hazardous Area Instrumentation (ATEX).
- Instrumentation requirements for mechanical packages.
- P&ID development.
- Sizing of flow devices, control valves, and relief devices.
- Excellent communicator with proactive engagement of clients and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to drive innovative solutions and maintain alignment with company engineering standards.
