Job summary

Circle Health Group is recruiting an Instrument Coordinator for Goring Hall Hospital in West Sussex. You will oversee preparation and availability of surgical instrumentation and coordinate stock, ensuring instruments are clean and delivered promptly to theatre areas.

The role requires theatre or sterile services experience, strong organisational skills and knowledge of decontamination standards. It offers 37.5 hours per week and a salary up to £25,000 per year.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health or Care Services, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation and availability of surgical instrumentation, liaising with decontamination services and external hospitals as needed.
  • Ensure instruments are clean, functional and delivered to correct locations to meet theatre schedules.
  • Coordinate tracking and management of theatre endoscopes with safe handling and traceability.
  • Assist in ordering, rotation and replenishment of theatre consumables per policies.
  • Monitor stock levels to avoid shortages or overstocking and support cost-effective resource use.
  • Participate in audits and stock reviews ensuring traceability and expiry management.

Instrument Coordinator

Salary: Up to £25,000.00 per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

Goring Hall Hospital in West Sussex is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for an Instrument Coordinator to join their team of staff in the Theatre department.

This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties Of This Role Include
  • Oversee the preparation and availability of surgical instrumentation, liaising with internal decontamination services and external hospitals where required.
  • Ensure all instruments are clean, functional, and delivered to the correct locations in a timely manner to meet daily theatre schedules.
  • Coordinate the tracking and management of theatre endoscopes, ensuring safe handling, traceability, and turnaround times in line with hospital and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in the ordering, rotation, and replenishment of theatre consumables, ensuring alignment with Circle Health Group’s preferred suppliers and procurement policies.
  • Monitor stock levels to avoid shortages or overstocking, supporting cost-effective resource utilisation and high theatre readiness.
  • Participate in audits and stock reviews, ensuring traceability and expiry management are adhered to.
Applicants Should Meet The Following Criteria
  • Experience working within a theatre environment or clinical support role.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced setting.
  • Basic understanding of infection control, instrument handling, and decontamination processes.
  • Good communication and teamworking skills with a professional and reliable approach.
  • Previous experience in instrument or stock coordination, ideally in a theatre or sterile services department.
  • Knowledge of theatre equipment, tracking systems, or inventory software.
  • Awareness of regulatory standards related to decontamination and surgical instrumentation.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health or Care Services, or equivalent experience in a healthcare support role.
