Job summary

Goring Hall Hospital in West Sussex is seeking an Instrument Coordinator to join the Theatre department. This full-time role offers 37.5 hours per week and involves coordinating instrumentation preparation, distribution, and stock management to support daily theatre schedules.

You will liaise with decontamination services, track endoscopes, manage consumables, and contribute to audits, with salary up to £25,000 per year depending on experience, training, and qualifications.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist in ordering and replenishment of theatre consumables per policies.
• Monitor stock levels to support cost-effective resource use and theatre readiness.
• Participate in audits and stock reviews with traceability and expiry management.

We have an opportunity for a Instrument Coordinator to join their team of staff in the Theatre department.

This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required tocover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:

• Oversee the preparation and availability of surgical instrumentation, liaising with internal decontamination services and external hospitals where required.
• Ensure all instruments are clean, functional, and delivered to the correct locations in a timely manner to meet daily theatre schedules.
• Coordinate the tracking and management of theatre endoscopes, ensuring safe handling, traceability, and turnaround times in line with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Assist in the ordering, rotation, and replenishment of theatre consumables, ensuring alignment with Circle Health Group’s preferred suppliers and procurement policies.
• Monitor stock levels to avoid shortages or overstocking, supporting cost-effective resource utilisation and high theatre readiness.
• Participate in audits and stock reviews, ensuring traceability and expiry management are adhered to.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Experience working within a theatre environment or clinical support role.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced setting.
• Basic understanding of infection control, instrument handling, and decontamination processes.
• Good communication and teamworking skills with a professional and reliable approach.
• Previous experience in instrument or stock coordination, ideally in a theatre or sterile services department.
• Knowledge of theatre equipment, tracking systems, or inventory software.
• Awareness of regulatory standards related to decontamination and surgical instrumentation.
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health or Care Services, or equivalent experience in a healthcare support role.
