Job summary

Selwood Ltd in the West Midlands is seeking an Installation Operative based at our Birmingham (Wolverhampton) branch. The role involves installing pipework on customer sites including construction, wastewater, and clean water projects, with occasional visits to the branch.

You will join a diverse team, work on-site across the UK, assist drivers, and uphold safety standards. A valid UK driving licence and a safety-focused mindset are essential; CSCS and water hygiene certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work on client sites including construction, wastewater and clean water.
• Flexible hours and be available to be part of an on-call rota.
• Willingness to travel across the UK and accommodate staying away from home.
• Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 points).

Responsibilities

About The Role

To help us achieve our expansion ambitions we are looking for an Installation Operative to hit the ground running within our growing team. If you have experience within civil engineering, the construction industry or have an armed forces background, and are looking for a career in a reputable business with fantastic progression paths, then this is the role for you! You will be based out of our Birmingham (Wolverhampton) branch, but you will predominantly work out on our customer sites, including construction, wastewater, and clean water, with the occasional visits into branch.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• You will promote and exercise the company's mission statement and core values to deliver a high-quality installation service across the UK.
• Your role will be to install pipework and assist our drivers with loading and unloading of our vehicles as well as checking against paperwork, missing items, damages, and fuel charges.
• As this is a physically demanding role a good level of fitness is required.
• Identify and recommend creative solutions and processes to make our business more unique and attractive and to become more efficient.
• Put safety first every time, demonstrate the confidence, knowledge, and experience to stop the installation and advise your supervisor if any safety issues arise at any time.

Qualifications & Personal Attributes

This role is subject to a safety critical medical.

Essential:

• Must have the aptitude to work on client sites, including construction, wastewater, and clean water.
• Flexible working hours and be available to be part of an 'on call' rota.
• Must be willing to travel to jobs throughout the UK and on occasions work away from home.
• Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 points).

Preferred:

• Holder of a construction skills CSCS card.
• National Water Hygiene Card.
• Confined space trained.
• Forklift truck operator certification.
• An understanding of the workings of a temporary / permanent pumping solution.

This role requires the employees to be willing and able to work at heights, work in confined spaces, lone working and work with sewage.
