Job summary

Selwood, a leading pump rental solutions company in the UK, invites applicants for an Installation Operative based at our Leeds branch. You will install pipework, assist drivers, and support day-to-day operations across the region under Installation Supervisors.

The role requires a self-starter with strong communication, willingness to travel, a full UK driving licence (max 6 points), and flexibility to work on call. A CSCS card, National Water Hygiene, and forklift certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Aptitude to work on client sites including construction, wastewater, and clean water.
• Willingness to travel UK-wide and stay away from home when required.
• Flexible hours and be part of an on-call rota.
• Full UK driving licence with <=6 points.

Responsibilities

• Install pipework and assist with loading/unloading vehicles, checking paperwork and items.
• Promote the company’s mission and deliver high-quality installations across the UK.
• Put safety first and stop installations when safety issues arise, reporting to supervisor.
• Identify improvements to make operations more efficient.
• Collaborate with installation supervisors on daily branch and regional projects.

About The Role

We are looking to welcome an Installation Operative to join our team based at our Leeds branch. This role will be based at both our branch yard as well as working on site based pump installations when required. This role requires a confident self starter who can work with a team ethos. Flexibility is a must due to the changing needs of our business due to the requirements of our customers. This role will come into contact with Selwood customers, so communication and good interpersonal skills are paramount. The Installation Operative will be heavily involved in the day to day operations of our branch and projects within the surrounding region under the direction of the Installation Supervisors.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• You will promote and exercise the company’s mission statement and core values to deliver a high-quality installation service across the UK.
• Your role will be to install pipework and assist our drivers with loading and unloading of our vehicles as well as checking against paperwork, missing items, damages, and fuel charges.
• As this is a physically demanding role a good level of fitness is required.
• Identify and recommend creative solutions and processes to make our business more unique and attractive and to become more efficient.
• Put safety first every time, demonstrate the confidence, knowledge, and experience to stop the installation and advise your supervisor if any safety issues arise at any time.

Qualifications & Personal Attributes

• Must have the aptitude to work on client sites, including construction, wastewater, and clean water.
• Flexible working hours and be available to be part of an ‘on call’ rota
• Must be willing to travel to jobs throughout the UK and on occasions work away from home.
• Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 points).

Preferred (but Not Essential)

• Holder of a construction skills CSCS card.
• National Water Hygiene Card.
• Confined space trained.
• Forklift truck operator certification.
• An understanding of the workings of a temporary / permanent pumping solution.

This role requires the employees to be willing and able to work at heights, work in confined spaces, lone working and work with sewage.

This role is subject to a safety critical medical.
