Job summary

TeacherActive Ltd in Chelmsford is seeking a Year 2 Primary Teacher for a long-term, part-time placement starting January 2027. The role requires QTS and KS1 experience, with a focus on delivering engaging Year 2 lessons and supporting pupils with diverse needs.

The successful candidate will collaborate with teaching staff to plan, assess and adapt learning experiences while maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom ethos.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
• Experience teaching within KS1, ideally Year 2.
• Strong knowledge of the KS1 National Curriculum, phonics and early literacy.
• Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND and varying learning abilities.
• Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills.
• Caring, patient and enthusiastic approach to teaching.
• Ability to commit to 2 days per week on a long-term basis.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the KS1 National Curriculum.
• Support pupils with a range of abilities, including those with SEND and additional learning needs.
• Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
• Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies where necessary.
• Work closely with teaching assistants and other staff to support pupils' learning.
• Maintain effective classroom and behaviour management.
• Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues and senior leadership.
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher to ensure consistency and continuity throughout the week.
