Job summary

Mendip Green Primary School in Weston-super-Mare is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our friendly team on a fixed-term 11-month contract. This role supports teachers with lessons and pastoral care, contributing to an inclusive, safe and stimulating classroom environment.

You will work with individuals, small groups and classes, helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally. A caring, patient approach and safeguarding commitment are essential; qualifications include

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 GCSEs (Grade C/Level 4 or above), including English and Maths.
• Experience supporting learning within a school, educational or childcare setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals.
• A caring, patient and empathetic approach to working with children.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the planning, preparation and delivery of lessons.
• Working with individual pupils, small groups and whole classes.
• Assisting with classroom management and behaviour support.
• Preparing learning resources and educational materials.
• Supporting children with different learning needs and abilities.
• Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers.
• Promoting pupil wellbeing, safeguarding and inclusion.
• Helping to create a safe, stimulating and positive learning environment.
