Job summary

Mendip Green Primary School in Weston-super-Mare is seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to join a friendly team on a fixed-term 11‑month contract. The role supports pupils across the school, assisting with lessons, small groups and individual needs while promoting wellbeing and inclusion.

The ideal candidate will have 3 GCSEs including English and Maths, a relevant TA qualification, and a caring, patient approach with strong communication to work effectively with staff and parents.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 GCSEs (Grade C/Level 4 or above), including English and Maths.
• Experience supporting learning within a school, educational or childcare setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals.
• Caring, patient and empathetic approach to working with children.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the planning, preparation and delivery of lessons.
• Working with individual pupils, small groups and whole classes.
• Assisting with classroom management and behaviour support.
• Preparing learning resources and educational materials.
• Supporting children with different learning needs and abilities.
• Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers.
• Promoting pupil wellbeing, safeguarding and inclusion.
• Helping to create a safe, stimulating and positive learning environment.
