Job summary

Kings Heath Primary Academy is recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support Early Years and KS1 learning under guidance of a qualified teacher.

The role involves assisting planning, managing resources, supervising pupils, and supporting diverse learners including SEN/EAL/GT groups. It is fixed-term until 31 August 2027, term-time (39 weeks) from 8:30 to 15:30, Monday to Friday, at Kings Heath in Northampton.

Qualifications

• NVQ2 TA or equivalent qualification or experience.
• GCSE English and Maths.
• Level 2 Certificate in Childcare in Schools or equivalent.
• Motivation to work with children and young people.
• Good numeracy / literacy skills.
• Understanding of child development and learning barriers.
• Training in learning strategies e.g., literacy.
• Effective use of ICT to support learning.
• Committed to promoting welfare of all children and creating a safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering the national curriculum.
• Contribute to development of support staff and school policies.
• Support planning cycles and resource preparation with teaching staff.
• Supervise classes during short-term absences (including PPA).
• Provide support for pupils, teachers and the school to raise achievement.
• Organise and supervise pupils in dining, playground, and circulation areas.
• Promote well-being, safety and welfare of students throughout the day.
