Job summary

Guardian Selection Limited is seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of needs in a Redditch school. The role involves delivering 1:1 and small-group support, adapting learning activities, and helping pupils access the curriculum with EHCP-based guidance.

You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and families to foster a safe, inclusive environment. A patient, proactive approach and good communication are essential to support academic and personal development.

Qualifications

  • Experience in education, care or support roles.
  • Knowledge and understanding of SEND and additional needs.
  • Understanding of the National Curriculum.
  • Strong behaviour and classroom management skills.
  • Patient, compassionate and nurturing approach.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEND.
  • Support pupils to access and participate fully in lessons and activities.
  • Help teachers deliver individualised learning programmes and EHCP outcomes.
  • Adapt activities to meet individual learning needs.
  • Encourage development of confidence, independence, communication and social skills.
  • Provide emotional and pastoral support to pupils.
  • Implement appropriate behaviour management strategies.
  • Support pupils with personal care and mobility needs as required.
  • Assist with breaks, lunchtimes, transitions and school activities.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to staff.
