Job summary

SMART Education Recruitment is seeking an SEN Teacher in Wolverhampton to support pupils with a range of additional needs. You will work with Teaching Assistants to deliver personalised learning aligned to EHCP targets, in specialist SEND settings.

The role emphasizes inclusive practice, differentiated lessons, and safeguarding in a supportive environment. The position requires QTS, at least six months of UK classroom experience, and DBS updates.

Qualifications

  • QTS is essential.
  • At least 6 months UK classroom teaching experience.
  • Previous SEND experience desirable.
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism, sensory needs, or communication difficulties would be beneficial.
  • Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning outcomes.
  • Ability to adapt teaching for a wide range of needs.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to teaching.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Ability to provide suitable references covering your most recent 24 months.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for pupils with a range of needs including Autism, communication difficulties, sensory processing needs, and learning disabilities.
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to suit individual starting points and needs.
  • Support pupils to achieve their personal EHCP targets.
  • Create a calm, inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress.
  • Promote pupils communication, confidence, and independence.
  • Work effectively with other education professionals and families.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare.
