Job summary

AWD online is seeking a dedicated Science Technician to support a busy science department in a secondary school setting. You will prepare equipment, resources and materials for demonstrations and practical lessons, ensuring safety and readiness for classes.

Working under the Senior Science Technician, you will maintain stock, manage lab organisation, assist with health and safety procedures, and help deliver engaging science experiences for students during term-time lessons and enrichment

Qualifications

• GCSE in Science or equivalent required.
• Good science knowledge and interest in practical learning.
• Good ICT skills and high accuracy.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible with a wide range of tasks for the school.
• First Aid at Work certificate valid.
• Commitment to safe working practices in a school lab.

Responsibilities

• Set up equipment, apparatus and materials for experiments and lessons.
• Clear, clean and maintain lab equipment for safe use.
• Monitor and replenish laboratory resources and materials.
• Support safe working practices, COSHH and CLEAPSS procedures.
• Prepare solutions and basic apparatus for lessons and events.
• Assist teaching staff during practical sessions and with cover work.
• Coordinate enrichment resources and STEM clubs materials.
• Maintain records and stock controls for the science department.
