Job summary

Philosophy Education LTD. in Lewisham is seeking a dedicated PRU Class Teacher for the Primary Phase, working with Year 7 and Year 8 intervention students. The role uses a KS2-style curriculum in a secondary setting to re-engage learners.

You will differentiate instruction, monitor progress, and collaborate with staff to support vulnerable learners, with emphasis on safeguarding and inclusive practice, in a high-performing PRU environment.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS and have successful experience teaching Key Stage 2, with a preference for Years 5 and 6.
• Demonstrate excellent behaviour management and strong communication skills.
• Understand safeguarding, inclusive practice and needs of vulnerable learners.
• Motivate, inspire and support students to exceed expectations.
• Use assessment, data and IT effectively to raise standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a KS2-style curriculum, including core subjects such as English, Maths and Science, tailored to younger learners in a secondary setting.
• Plan and teach engaging lessons to support re-engagement, confidence and accelerated progress.
• Differentiate learning and collaborate with support staff to meet diverse needs (SEND, EAL).
• Assess, monitor, record and report pupil progress; set clear targets.
• Promote positive behaviour, mutual respect and an inclusive learning environment.
• Build constructive relationships with parents, carers and external professionals.
• Contribute to whole-school initiatives, curriculum development and safeguarding practice.
• Engage in professional development and reflective practice.
