Job summary

Harris Garrard Academy seeks a dedicated maths teacher to join our committed team. You will contribute to KS3/KS4 maths education, develop resources and assess student work, and support a tutoring role within the school.

The successful candidate will hold QTS (or equivalent) and have strong ICT skills, excellent communication with parents, and a clear commitment to high standards and inclusive teaching in a multi-ethnic urban setting.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
• Have successful teaching experience at secondary level (including practice).
• Understand theory and practice of effective teaching and learning.
• Understand importance of high expectations and equality of access for all students and of being a tutor.
• Know National Curriculum requirements at KS3 and KS4, and how to write lesson plans, develop resources and assess students' work.
• Be able to work in a team and maintain positive relationships with staff.
• Have good ICT skills, including interactive white boards.
• Create a motivating and safe learning environment for all students.
• Communicate positively with parents, carers and external agencies when needed.
• Demonstrate strong written and spoken communication skills.
• Lead and manage own work effectively and manage time well.
• Motivate students and raise aspirations through various strategies.

Responsibilities

• Teach Maths to KS3/KS4 and assess students' work.
• Develop learning resources and write lesson plans.
• Monitor and report on student progress and provide feedback.
• Tutor students and support wider student development.
• Communicate with parents, carers and external agencies as required.
