Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
• Degree or relevant qualification in Geography or a related subject.
• Experience teaching Geography within a secondary school setting.
• Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for Geography.
• The ability to plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons.
• Excellent classroom management skills.
• High expectations of students' behaviour and academic achievement.
• The ability to differentiate teaching to support students of varying abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with strong subject knowledge and a passion for Geography are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging Geography lessons in line with the school's curriculum.
• Teach Geography across the relevant secondary age range and ability levels.
• Differentiate lessons effectively to meet the needs of all learners.
• Assess and monitor students' progress, providing constructive feedback.
• Maintain high expectations of student achievement, behaviour, and participation.
• Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
• Use a range of teaching strategies and resources to engage students.
• Support students in developing their geographical knowledge, skills, and understanding.
• Prepare students effectively for examinations and assessments where required.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Geography department and across the school.
• Contribute to departmental planning, meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and attainment.
• Follow the school's safeguarding, behaviour, health and safety, and professional policies.
• Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and carers.
