Marchant Recruitment is assisting a Horsham secondary school recruiting an English Teacher for KS3 and KS4. This full-time, permanent post is located in West Sussex with an ASAP start and a salary on the MPS1–UPS3 scale.

The successful candidate will inspire reading, strengthen writing and support GCSE preparation, with a QTS (or equivalent) and solid knowledge of KS3/KS4 English required.

The school emphasises engaging lessons and positive classroom routines.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching English at secondary level.
• Strong knowledge of KS3 and KS4 English curriculum.
• Ability to teach literature and language effectively.
• Effective classroom management and communication skills.
• Commitment to improving students’ literacy and examination performance.

Responsabilités

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Teach English Language and English Literature in line with the curriculum.
• Develop students’ reading comprehension, creative writing and analytical skills.
• Support pupils in studying novels, poetry, plays and non-fiction texts.
• Prepare students for GCSE assessments and examinations.
• Differentiate teaching materials to support diverse learning needs.
• Mark written work and provide clear feedback to improve responses.
• Encourage discussion, independent thinking and confident communication.
• Maintain a positive classroom environment with clear expectations.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop schemes of work and assessment resources.
