Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking an enthusiastic English Teacher for a Surrey secondary school. You will deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4, helping students develop reading, writing and analytical skills to excel in GCSE assessments.

You will plan well-structured lessons, differentiate for varied abilities, provide constructive feedback and monitor progress. A QTS or eligible ECT, plus a degree in English, are required. Immediate start available.

Qualifications

• Hold QTS or be an eligible Early Career Teacher.
• Have a degree or strong subject knowledge in English.
• Be confident teaching English Language and Literature at secondary level.
• Understand GCSE English curriculum requirements.
• Demonstrate effective lesson planning and classroom management.
• Be able to adapt teaching to meet a range of learning needs.
• Provide clear feedback to support student progress.
• Maintain high expectations for achievement and behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Plan lessons Across KS3 and KS4 to develop understanding of literary texts, written communication and language techniques.
• Teach English Language and Literature in line with curriculum requirements.
• Prepare students for GCSE English assessments and examinations.
• Develop analytical writing, comprehension and creative writing skills.
• Support students with spelling, punctuation, grammar and vocabulary.
• Encourage wider reading and appreciation of different literary genres.
• Differentiate lessons to support varied abilities.
• Assess students' work and provide constructive feedback.
• Monitor progress and identify areas for additional support.
