Job summary

Supply Desk is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and well-established secondary school in the UB4 area, seeking a motivated English Teacher to join their team from September. You will deliver engaging lessons across KS3 and KS4, helping students improve reading, writing and GCSE preparation while maintaining high standards of behaviour and classroom routines.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent required.
• Experience teaching English at secondary level.
• ECTs encouraged to apply.
• Strong knowledge of English Language and Literature.
• Confident classroom presence and behaviour management.
• Well-organised, flexible and enthusiastic approach to teaching.

Responsibilities

• Designing and delivering creative and challenging English lessons.
• Teaching English Language and English Literature across KS3 and KS4.
• Supporting pupils in preparation for GCSE examinations.
• Encouraging analytical thinking and a love of reading and writing.
• Monitoring progress and setting clear, achievable targets.
• Adapting teaching strategies to support diverse learning needs.
• Establishing clear routines and maintaining positive behaviour.
• Contributing to departmental planning and curriculum development.
• Working closely with colleagues, parents, and pastoral teams.
