Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking an Art Teacher for a secondary school in Farnborough. The role is full-time and permanent, with a January start and a salary on the MPS1–UPS3 scale, paid in line with the teacher pay scale.

You will deliver Art across KS3 and KS4, helping students develop drawing, painting, and design skills while fostering confidence and creativity in a supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching Art at secondary level.
• Strong practical subject knowledge across a range of artistic techniques.
• Ability to plan inclusive lessons for varying abilities.
• Good classroom management, communication and organisational skills.
• A genuine enthusiasm for encouraging students' creativity and artistic development.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Art lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Teach a range of techniques, including drawing, painting, mixed media and observational studies.
• Help students develop their understanding of composition, colour, form and artistic processes.
• Support students in developing portfolios and preparing coursework where applicable.
• Introduce students to a range of artists, movements and cultural influences.
• Encourage independent thinking, experimentation and creative problem-solving.
• Assess students' practical work and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain an organised classroom and ensure materials and equipment are used safely.
• Differentiate activities to support students with varying abilities and levels of confidence.
• Contribute to departmental planning, displays and wider creative activities.
