Marchant Recruitment seeks an Art and Design Teacher to join a Cambridge secondary school from January. You will deliver Art and Design across KS3 and KS4, guiding students through diverse media, observational drawing and project work.

The role emphasizes independent thinking, clear demonstrations and constructive feedback, with a focus on portfolio development for GCSE and a commitment to safeguarding and inclusion in a creative learning environment.

Qualifications

• A degree in Art, Fine Art, Art and Design or a related creative discipline.
• QTS, PGCE or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching Art at secondary level, or relevant school placements for ECTs.
• Strong practical skills and knowledge of artistic techniques and processes.
• Ability to motivate pupils and develop their creative independence.
• Effective planning, assessment and classroom management skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and student progress.
• The legal right to work in the UK.

Responsabilités

• Plan and deliver engaging Art and Design lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Teach drawing, painting, mixed media and other techniques relevant to the curriculum.
• Support students with research, experimentation, composition and evaluation.
• Introduce artists, designers and visual traditions from different periods and cultures.
• Guide GCSE pupils through coursework, portfolio development and examination preparation.
• Assess creative work and provide constructive feedback to support improvement.
• Adapt teaching to meet different learning needs, abilities and levels of confidence.
• Maintain a safe, organised and well-managed creative learning environment.
• Contribute to displays, exhibitions, enrichment activities and departmental planning where appropriate.
