Key duties and responsibilities
- Manage a mixed case load of formal insolvency appointments, including Administrations, CVLs, MVLs, Liquidations, CVAs, and occasionally, Bankruptcies.
- Administer insolvency cases from initial advice to case closure, ensuring compliance with all legal and procedural requirements.
- Address and adjudicate creditors’ claims, including retention of title, secured, preferential, and unsecured claims.
- Report to secured creditors and other stakeholders as required.
- Assist in continuing to trade on-site when necessary.
- Prepare documentation for statutory meetings and reports.
- Support employees with claims and liaise with redundancy payment services.
- Handle day-to-day correspondence, including non-standard communications.
- Maintain accurate books and records, ensuring their safekeeping and proper storage.
- Conduct statutory investigations and pursue antecedent transactions when appropriate.
- Process banking and cheque requests to handle estate monies correctly.
- Complete VAT and Corporation tax returns accurately and timely.
- Ensure adherence to statutory compliance and current legislation, including SIPS.
- Update and maintain case checklists and case diaries.
- Liaise with professional agents, solicitors, and accountants.
- Prepare supporting documents for sale contracts and other legal transactions.
- Participate in meetings and marketing events as required.
- Delegate tasks and provide training and support to junior staff members.
Reporting, relationships & management
- Support and train other staff members.
- Assist other case executives when needed.
- Report case progress to the Insolvency Practitioner (IP).
Qualifications & experience
- AAT or CPI qualification is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Experience with corporate formal insolvency appointments within an IP firm is required.
- Knowledge of IPS Cloud is beneficial but not essential.
- Strong IT skills, including Excel, Word, and IPS.
- High professional standards and conduct.
- Self-motivated and proactive in keeping up-to-date with legislation and best practices.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with flexibility.
- Ability to anticipate issues and communicate effectively within the team.
- Confident with good interpersonal, telephone, and written communication skills.
- Responsible, reliable, and able to manage workload and deadlines effectively.
- Enthusiastic and committed to task completion and promoting the firm at networking events.
