Job summary

Netbuilder in Farnborough, Hampshire, is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer with strong Windows, Linux, cloud and security experience. The role offers an onsite, security-focused environment with a funded training programme up to 10 weeks to gain hands-on skills.

You will work across public, private and hybrid clouds, maintain secure environments and support Office 365 offerings. A UK work visa and clearance eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent training; problem solving mindset.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant technical industry experience.
• Experience with Windows Server 2016+ administration.
• Experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter or VCF, and Azure or Microsoft 365 administration.
• Experience with Linux environments (CentOS/Red Hat/Ubuntu).
• PowerShell skills required.
• Experience with EUD provisioning including Autopilot, maintenance, patching and hardening.
• Understanding of SSO concepts and operation.
• Experience working in protectively marked environments.
• Desirable: Kubernetes administration (VMware TKGI DevSec).
• Desirable: Elastic and Nessus tooling.
• Desirable: Application packaging experience.
• Desirable: HashiCorp tools (Terraform, Vault).
• Desirable: Agile sprints; SC or DV clearance; UK Security Clearance eligibility.
• Willingness to commute to Farnborough or relocate; UK work authorisation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, improve, and secure multi-classification virtualised environments.
• Collaborate with IT infrastructure to strengthen Secure by Design practices.
• Provide infrastructure support for public cloud SaaS (Office 365) and project-based systems across cloud environments.
• Perform infrastructure maintenance through change control.
• Monitor and manage project tickets and security alerts; triage incidents.
• Maintain monitoring components and patch platforms per policy.
• Assess incident impact and restore services; plan stability improvements.
• Develop knowledge through study and vocational certifications; share knowledge via articles.
• Advise customers and project teams on infrastructure and support aspects; contribute to business wins.

Responsibilities

• We maintain, improve and secure multi-classification, virtualised, collaboration and development environments.
• We work with IT infrastructure colleagues to improve our Secure by Design capabilities internally and across projects.
• We provide infrastructure support to public cloud SaaS offerings, including Office 365, as well as project-based systems across public, private and hybrid clouds in implementation and support lifecycles.
• We perform maintenance tasks on infrastructure through change control.
• We assist with monitoring and managing project-based ticketing and alerting systems for new changes and security alerts.
• We triage monitoring alerts and take appropriate action.
• We maintain monitoring components in line with infrastructure developments.
• We ensure platforms are patched in line with provider recommendations and our security policy.
• We assess the impact of incidents, initiate return to service, and complete follow-up actions.
• We identify trends and problems and plan changes to improve stability and performance.
• We maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills in the design and build of secure public, private and hybrid cloud and network technologies.
• We develop our knowledge through study and research toward vocational certifications in relevant technologies and vendors.
• We advise customers and project teams on infrastructure and support aspects.
• We cascade knowledge through knowledge articles for our team and wider organisation.
• We support the team in winning business.
