Job summary

Staffing Lab Ltd in Telford is recruiting an experienced IT Engineer to join their established IT team. This hands-on infrastructure role will keep VMware ESXi/vSphere, Cisco, and server environments secure, reliable and available across office and production environments.

You will monitor and maintain VMware ESXi/vSphere environments, configure Cisco switches/routers, support Windows/ Linux servers and AD, perform backup validation and DR testing, troubleshoot LAN/WAN/VPN, and manage hardware,

Qualifications

• Experience in infrastructure, systems or network engineering, ideally in manufacturing.
• Hands-on VMware ESXi/vSphere administration (around 3 years preferred).
• Strong Cisco switching and routing knowledge (around 3 years preferred).
• Solid Windows Server and Active Directory experience, plus Linux knowledge.
• Backup, DR and security patching experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
• VCP, CCNA or ITIL would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain VMware ESXi/vSphere environments, including VM provisioning, snapshots, templates, patching and capacity planning
• Configure and maintain Cisco switches and routers: VLANs, trunking, routing, IOS upgrades and network hardening
• Support Windows and Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy
• Carry out backup validation, recovery testing and disaster recovery testing
• Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, wireless and VPN issues
• Install and rack servers and network equipment, and handle break-fix and hardware replacement
• Apply security patches, remediate vulnerabilities and review system logs
• Coordinate upgrades and maintenance windows, and keep documentation and asset records up to date

• Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 17:00, with occasional call-outs
• Full-time, permanent - Onsite role
