Job summary

Roehampton University seeks an Information Governance Manager to lead data protection and freedom of information duties within the Governance and Legal Office. You will advise the Chief Operating Officer & University Secretary as Data Protection Officer and act as FOI Officer.

With a focus on compliant policies, training, and stakeholder guidance, you will coordinate the Admissions Referral Board and engage across the university to ensure robust data governance in a hybrid London post.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of data protection and freedom of information legislation or the ability to develop such.
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to resolve complex situations.
• Knowledge of operating in a public sector environment.
• The ability to draft robust policies, procedures and, with the appropriate training, data protection impact assessments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to present information clearly and concisely to a wide range of stakeholders, including senior management.
• The ability to negotiate and influence within a complex institution.

Responsibilities

• Advise the Chief Operating Officer & University Secretary in discharging their role as Data Protection Officer and act as Freedom of Information Officer.
• Ensure compliance with legal obligations, provide training, and implement robust policies and procedures.
• Coordinate the Admissions Referral Board and advise on data protection implications in admissions decisions.
