By joining Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands (CTPWM), you'll play a crucial role in ensuring information governance and security standards help protect the Nation from threats. As part of a national network of security specialists, CTPWM works alongside UK Police Forces and partners to safeguard communities.

The role

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced individual to manage all records management and information governance activity across the Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands region. This role is based in our modern offices near to the Birmingham International Airport. You'll work Monday to Friday, between the core hours of 0700 - 1830.

This role does not require police powers, but demands a strategic and proactive approach to safeguarding sensitive national security information.

Although you will have the scope to work on your own initiative, you'll be part of a flexible and friendly team. This is a unique, varied and rewarding challenge within a busy and dynamic environment.

ResponsibilitiesLead on all records management strategy, setting strategy and writing policy.
Ensuring compliance with legislation, national guidance and accreditation.
Advise on the security, integrity and quality of all data processing activity.
Ensure appropriate policies and retention schedules are in place and operating effectively.
Advising information asset owners and other senior stakeholders on all information management matters.
Promote consistent and effective information governance practices across the region.
Provide expert guidance on GDPR, the Data Protection Act, and information security policies.
Skills and competencies
EssentialExtensive knowledge of records management.
Educated to degree level.
Professional qualifications in a relevant subject or relevant work experience with the information management arena.
Excellent planning and organisational skills, managing competing priorities effectively.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including influencing senior management.
Comprehensive understanding of GDPR and other legislation relevant to records management.
Proven supervisory experience, capable of leading a team.
Competency in IT systems, including Microsoft Office applications.
DesirablePrevious experience in data protection and governance frameworks, including but limited to an understanding of Information Management and its application across CT Policing.
A Professional records management qualification.
A Professional audit qualification.
Membership of the Records Management Society.
Security Clearance

This post requires British nationality (some dual nationalities may be ineligible) and Developed Vetting clearance.

You will need to undergo additional security clearance checks, with the offer of employment being conditional on obtaining all of the necessary security clearances.

There are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries once in post.
